How long have you been working for Dobas AG?

I first started work here in September 2022.

Where did your professional journey take you prior to your current position?

Before my apprenticeship in Interior Architecture, I travelled the world as a flight attendant. After my apprenticeship and a number of internships, I worked for an interior architecture studio in Central Switzerland that specialised in hotels and restaurants. After that I took a detour into residential interior architecture, and now I’m back in my favourite business.

What are your main tasks as an interior architect?

I’m part of the Dobas design team and focus mostly on hospitality projects. My main responsibilities are the preliminary project work, drafting and materials selection.

How do you stay informed and, more importantly, inspired?

I stay informed by taking in everything that comes my way. These days, the internet certainly makes up an important part of that. I often get inspiration at random moments in my free time or while I’m on holidays.

What materials make your senses tingle?

I like unexpected material combinations. And when there’s a nice colour in there, I might literally jump for joy.

What should not be missing from your workplace?

Different colour fans can be found on my desk at all times. Recently I put up a picture of my two kids on the pinboard. Their smiling faces are always there to remind me to look at and approach things with a light heart and an open mind. And a heaping portion of honesty.

What building and/or space has left a particularly lasting impression on you and why?

I am extremely impressed by the Marina Bay Sands Hotel in Singapore, both its architecture and interior design. It’s as though someone had propped up a few slabs of glass on one another and put a boat on top of it. When you’re up on top you don’t notice much of the boat-shaped roof structure, but the view and everything around it is breathtaking. And a bit insane!

What fills you with joy and pride in your professional life?

The creative side of my job is very fulfilling. But the feeling I get at the end of a project when I see satisfied customers with a smile on their face – that makes me proud and happy.

What brings you joy in your personal life?

Definitely my husband and my two wonderful kids! And exercise. We are an athletic family. We do everything from Aquafit to Zumba. Exercise is the best way for me to give my mind a rest and recharge my batteries.
