Simon Achermann

Draftsman

How long have you been working for Dobas AG?

I’ve joined the Dobas team in December 2019.

Where did your career path take you prior to this position?

I completed an apprenticeship as interior decorator and gained first planning experience at a technical school with focus on interior architecture.

What are your main tasks as draftsman?

I translate designs and client’s needs into drawings – in consideration of the given norms.

How do you keep yourself informed and inspired in particular?

I stay up to date thanks to professional magazines. However, I rarely have enough time to read. And I feel inspired by strolls – through villages, cities, but also through nature.

What materials make your senses jump for joy?

I wouldn’t want to miss the warm and rustic character of wood. Apart from that I am more into clear lines and simple material designs.

What odds and ends can one find on your desk, which aren’t essential for your daily work but for yourself and your motivation?

A bottle of water – whereby I wouldn’t describe it as unessential. The chewing gums maybe? They are probably more unnecessary, but I could actually forgo them…

Which room of your home would you re-design and which ideas would you bring to life?

Our terrace doesn’t provide any atmosphere at all. I would re-design it into a cozier place for mild summer nights. But to extend our terrace with a sheltered outside place, a part of the adjoining bathroom would have to go.

Professionally speaking, what fulfills you with delight and pride?

A successful conclusion of a project! To see a happy client makes me proud again and again. It is even more delightful when you got there with a harmonizing team and fun.

And what floods you with feelings of happiness in private terms?

The happy and carefree characters of my children are contagious and enrich my life.
