How long have you been working for Dobas AG?

I've been working for Dobas AG since March 2021.

Where did your professional journey take you prior to your current position?

I completed my training in the shop-fitting industry. After that, I traversed the fields of construction techniques and interior design. Now, at Dobas, I’ve come full circle, so to speak, and I am once more working in the exciting world of retail architecture.

What are your main tasks as a draftswoman?

My main task is drafting designs in the CAD programme. We continually discuss the details with the design team and project managers, who are well-versed in the demands and requests of the clients. In addition, I am responsible for the CAD structure of our software solution, including the library and onboarding of new draftspeople.

How do you stay informed and, more importantly, inspired?

I stay informed by meeting and engaging with other professionals, which is something that happens regularly in my field. There is always a lively exchange of thoughts and insights. Human beings are my favourite source of information! To me, inspiration is more of a feeling. If a particular place makes me feel good, I take a closer look and try to find out what exactly it is that makes the place so appealing to me.

What materials make your senses tingle?

Natural materials, such as wood, silk and leather. They all have a certain warmth and high quality when you touch them.

What’s lying around your desk that might seem unnecessary to others but is important to you and your motivation?

The Sky Lagoon thermal bath is an incredible place under the open sky of Iceland. It is not a space in the strictest sense, but in the water of the calm lagoon it is like you are enshrouded in warmth and security. Everything surrounding it is modern and elegant yet also natural and relaxed. Like Iceland itself.

What building and/or space has left a particularly lasting impression on you and why?

Our office is the room we use the least. It has white furniture, white walls… My idea would be to flood the room in a warm beige tone just like the rest of the house and to replace the simple ceiling light with a glamorous chandelier. There would also be space for a nice armchair with a side table. That’s what my dream home office would look like.

What fills you with joy and pride in your professional life?

I’m proud that my efforts contribute to the creation of bespoke retail architecture in unique projects all over the world. It’s like scattering little seeds of my work all over the planet in places I hope I’ll get to visit one day. I also really like working for an innovative company that thinks about the future.

What brings you joy in your personal life?

When I have the opportunity to discover the world and make plans. To me, it doesn’t matter whether it’s a long trip to another continent or just a weekend getaway: I am deeply grateful to have freedom of movement.
