Interior Architecture for Weizenkorn Bakery in Basel-Land
The new Weizenkorn bakery in Augst (BL) is far more than a place to buy bread and pastries. Commissioned by the Weizenkorn Foundation, Carolin Kotte from DOBAS Creation developed a holistic bakery concept designed to be adapted for future locations. Across 113 m², the retail area and café come together to create a cohesive overall experience.

The interior concept draws inspiration from the craftsmanship and traditions of baking. Warm oak, natural materials, craft-inspired details and a harmonious colour palette create a welcoming atmosphere, bringing warmth, calm and identity to the space.
The ear of wheat from the Weizenkorn logo has been translated into a defining design element throughout the interior. It reappears in various forms – from subtle product displays and room dividers to the flooring in the café area. In this way, the brand identity is not only visible but can be experienced throughout the entire space.
While the retail area highlights the bakery's artisanal character, the café invites guests to observe, relax and connect across a variety of seating areas. A carefully curated palette of materials unifies the different zones into a coherent whole, while strategically positioned room dividers, together with changes in the floor and ceiling, create a clear spatial structure without compromising the openness of the space.
The result is a space with a strong identity, harmoniously combining functionality and design while expressing the values of the Weizenkorn Foundation through a contemporary and authentic spatial concept.
