Julia Schuy

Interior Architect

How long have you been working for Dobas AG?

I’ve been working for Dobas AG since April 2023.

Where did your professional journey take you prior to your current position?

I’ve already had the opportunity to work in a number of creative professions, from interior design for advertisement photos and event decoration to media and shop window design and project management. I’ve been working as an interior designer since 2014.

What are your main tasks as an interior architect?

I passionately design individual interior concepts with the goal of captivating visitors, simplifying everyday life and making dreams come true.

How do you stay informed and, more importantly, inspired?

I get a lot of inspiration while travelling. Whether it’s a city trip or spending time in nature, I always end up coming across exciting shapes, colours or new ways of seeing things. I often feel so inspired that I want to get creative on the spot.

What materials make your senses tingle?

I like to work with natural materials. I also think recycled materials are very exciting. One of my concerns is how we can extend the life span of and reuse existing materials.

What should not be missing from your workplace?

Less is more! Ideally there is only a piece of paper and a pen.

What building and/or space has left a particularly lasting impression on you and why?

Since I come from the Cologne region, the Cologne Cathedral is naturally the first thing that comes to mind. From afar it stands out for its size and singularity; when you step inside, you are immediately transported to another world. The vast dimensions, gorgeous works of art at dizzying heights, an impressive play of lights, attention to detail and much more leave you in awe.

What fills you with joy and pride in your professional life?

Now it is when I develop creative concepts for Dobas AG.

What brings you joy in your personal life?

To outdo myself!
