How long have you been working for Dobas AG?

I started on 1 October 2021.

Where did your professional journey take you prior to your current position?

I had a variety of experiences as an interior design student in Hanover: I acquired design skills during my semester abroad in Valencia and supervised exciting corporate design projects during an internship in Frankfurt. Then I moved to Zurich where I worked for an interior design studio, primarily on projects in the private sector.

What are your main tasks in your role as interior designer?

I design individual concepts and develop ideas to improve the ambience and functionality of spaces – and ultimately the quality of life of those who use them. I take a lot of pleasure in preserving what’s good, adding to what’s there and creating new atmospheres.

How do you stay informed and, more importantly, inspired?

By being in contact with people who share knowledge with me. And also by living life with my eyes open: that’s what allows me to discover exciting material and colour compositions or stumble across remarkable spatial experiences.

What materials make your senses tingle?

Genuine, natural, pure materials.

What is lying around your desk that might seem unnecessary to others but is important to you and crucial for staying motivated?

My plant is my loyal companion; and of course my emergency chocolate bar, which is actually in my drawer.

What building and/or space has left a particularly lasting impression on you and why?

The thermal baths in Vals by Peter Zumthor features an impressive interplay of perspectives, natural materials and light. Bathing is reduced to the essentials; emphasis is placed on perceiving the atmosphere. Its affinity with nature and the relationship between the structure and its surroundings are highly apparent. It appeals to visitors on all sensory levels: haptically, visually, auditorily, olfactorily.

Speaking of your job, what makes you happy and proud?

When our projects manage to elicit emotions, improve well-being and make distinctive spaces tangible.

What brings you joy in your personal life?

To go out and explore with my favourite people, whether it’s out in the wide world or right on my doorstep. There’s nothing better than taking in new impressions and sharing experiences and moments together.
